The nominal interest rate is on capital only and the interest will be paid to the client monthly. The capital stays the same during the investment period.

The effective interest rate is on capital and interest, where interest is added to the capital and will be paid at end of investment term (also called compounded interest). This is normally the better rate as the capital grows during the investment term.
