Corporate Governance and Responsibility | PSG Financial Services

Corporate governance & responsibility

PSG embraces the principles of good corporate governance, including sustainability, transparency and accountability. In addition to all relevant laws, we also recognise our responsibility to comply with financial services industry charters, codes and standards.

We have adopted the principles of the King IV Report on Corporate Governance™ for South Africa, 2016 (King IV™).

Transformation

Transformation is an imperative for the long-term sustainability of our business. To ensure success and value creation in this area, we have established a social and ethics committee and formalised our broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) strategy.

Corporate responsibility

Community

Communities are the source of current and future employees, suppliers, service providers, shareholders and clients. Investing in the empowerment of these communities ensures that PSG will have a future pool of skilled employees and clients available.
The various PSG offices are active within their local communities. The focus of these local programmes is on communities with historically disadvantaged backgrounds. Given the group’s extensive footprint in South Africa, these initiatives have a far-reaching impact at a grassroots level.

Investing in the empowerment of these communities ensures that PSG will have a future pool of skilled employees and clients available.

Environment

PSG limits the use of electricity, paper and water in the office environment, and its head office in Cape Town is rated a five-star green building. The use of video-conferencing facilities at each of the major offices across the country reduces travel time.

Responsible investment

PSG supports the principles stated in the Code for Responsible Investing in South Africa. Both our investment philosophy and our processes are driven by these principles.

PSG Asset Management considers investing in companies with sustainable business models and in management teams that will act as secondary custodians of clients’ capital.
