With 2021 coming to a close, there is one thing we got used to this year, and that is uncertainty. In the past two years, the pandemic has dominated our time and lives. We are blessed that all our staff have so far survived Covid. We at PSG again realised that nothing is permanent, as many of us have lost clients and friends due to Covid. As the proverb goes, as long as there is life, there is hope. We are hopeful for the future because we believe in Him who is the Hope, and who gives us reason to hope.

Despite all the uncertainty this year, we have stuck to our investment strategy and principles, which once again stood the test of time. Our client portfolios have recovered after the slump that started in March 2020, and returns over the past 12 months are looking very good. The global economy has recovered strongly while we in South Africa are still behind the curve with the highest unemployment rate ever. However, our stock exchange has performed very well. The rand is on the backfoot against the US dollar and our strategy is to keep as much as 40-60% of our clients’ exposure in offshore assets.

We have been named PSG’s Office of the Year out of 254 offices. I am proud of the team we have built over the past 20 years and who achieved this special feat. Our short-term insurance business has grown exponentially, and Markus Fourie, our partner managing this part of the business, was also named Short-Term Adviser of the Year.

Our business has also grown through the merger with the two branches in Plettenberg Bay and Knysna. These expansions give us the opportunity to service our existing clients even better, as well as bringing our comprehensive investment solutions and specialised service to clients in Plettenberg Bay and Knysna.

Including the expansions we now have branches in Pretoria (Silver Lakes and Olympus), George Central, Mossel Bay Dias, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Going forward, our office will be called PSG Silver Lakes Outeniqua. We look forward to building this new name with our established values and service levels.

We are truly grateful for our business and would like to wish all our clients a blessed Christmas. Enjoy the time spent with your family and friends over the festive season.

Best regards from the picturesque George
