Global markets rose on improved sentiment
Positive sentiment boosted global markets on Monday, as Beijing reopened after a two-month-long hard lockdown as officials declared that the recent Covid-19 outbreak was under control. Also lifting sentiment was news that the US intends to reduce import tariffs on Chinese products. This news helped the FTSE/JSE All Share Index (ALSI) end the day up by 0.30%. The rand also strengthened to a six-week high trading at R15.43/$, 19.35/£, and R16.50/€ at 20h00.
