What effect has Barclays’ recent decisions had on its share value?
Barclays reported a heavy loss for the second quarter, hit by the one-off costs of a big disposal in Africa and a further knock from miss-selling of payment protection insurance to UK customers. Missing analysts’ expectations, overall revenues decreased 15% to £5.06bn, while the bank slid to an attributable loss of £1.4bn, compared with a profit of £677m a year ago.
